Nathan S. Emmons joins Hobart and William Smith Colleges
(Aug. 24, 2004) GENEVA, N.Y.— The Office of Student Life and Leadership, the center of student activities at Hobart and William Smith Colleges, has named a new director. Nathan S. Emmons, former associate director of student services at Syracuse University, has been named to the post.
As director, Emmons will oversee the student life and leadership program. In this capacity, he will work with students on community building and leadership skills, and assist student organizations and clubs in planning and implementing a wide variety of co-curricular and social activities for campus. He will also work with Interfraternity Council to assist fraternities in their organizational planning.
Emmons holds a master’s degree from Syracuse University in higher education and student affairs. He also holds a bachelor’s degree from St. Lawrence University. He has served in various capacities in the Student Centers and Programming Services at Syracuse University since 2000. Prior to that, he was resident director at University of Maryland, College Park.
Additionally, Emmons has served as the regional director of the Association of College Unions International since Nov. 2003. He also holds professional memberships with the American College Personnel Association and the National Association for Campus Activities.
He was named New Professional of the Year by the Association of College Unions-International in 2002.
The Office of Student Life and Leadership was recently re-located to the second floor of the Scandling Center above the Cafe.
