Titled “Human Rights Matter Most,” the editorial made the point “Internationally, we must lend our moral and financial support to strengthen the laws and institutions that pursue and prosecute those who violate human rights. Through active diplomacy, boycotts, and economic sanctions we must ensure that countries that violate human rights do not do so with impunity. Locally we should work to develop a culture that respects and values human rights. Finally, we should learn the lesson that the call for military intervention to stop atrocities and terror is an indictment of our own historical shortsightedness.”
