Public Debate on U.S. Foreign Policy

The HWS Debate Team will present a debate on the topic “Has US foreign policy in the 21st century made the world safer?” from 7:30 to 9 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 14, in the Geneva Room.

Two students from the HWS Debate Team will argue on each side of this topic. Members of the audience will have an opportunity to speak on this topic for up to three minutes, with a $100 cash prize awarded to the best HWS student speech (and some other runner-up prizes as well). There will be a separate prize for the winning debate team.

The event is funded by a grant from the International Debate Education Association (a George Soros Foundation) and is part of a series of hundreds of event held this week around the globe called “The People Speak.”
