William Smith soccer to celebrate 25 years

The William Smith College soccer team will cap off its 25th season with a celebration during the weekend of the Herons’ final regular season home game against Nazareth on Saturday, Oct. 16. William Smith also will honor its three seniors prior to the contest.

The event will be kicked off on Saturday afternoon, when the Herons take on non-conference rival Nazareth College on Cozzens Field at 1 p.m. The game is open to the public. William Smith also will put on a halftime contest featuring fun games with prizes for kids on the field.

William Smith and the Golden Flyers have met 15 times, with the Herons leading the series 12-3, including winning each of the past six meetings. William Smith is led by first-year Laura Burnett-Kurie (Oyster River/Durham, N.H.) with nine points. Sophomore goalie Nikki Dudley (Chittenango/Canastota, N.Y.) has turned in another strong season, posting four shutouts and sporting a 0.51goals against average and an .878 save percentage. Nazareth is paced by junior Kristina Cristofori and senior Beth Berger, both with 11 points. In goal Holly Sands has seen the majority of minutes, recording a 0.77 goals against average and .778 save percentage.
