Hobart and William Smith Colleges 12th annual Day of Service will be underway on Saturday, Oct. 23
(Oct. 18, 2004) GENEVA, N.Y.–Residents from the Geneva area are invited to a day of community service, helping local non-profit organizations, agencies and individuals. Tools, supplies and lunch will be provided; all volunteers need to provide is appropriate clothing and enthusiasm. More than 30 clean-up and service projects will be completed on Saturday, Oct. 23, in the greater Geneva area–encompassing spots from Romulus to Canandaigua–as part of the 12th annual Day of Service at Hobart and William Smith Colleges.
Volunteers are still needed and are asked to check in at 8:30 a.m. at the Hobart Quad and gather for opening ceremonies at 9:15 a.m. Transportation will be provided to the clean up sites. Crews will return to the campus for a celebration on the Quad at 1:30 p.m. Volunteers may register the day of the event or online before then at www.hws.edu/dayofservice.
Families with children ages 8 and under are invited to be a part of Day of Service by joining at the HWS Barn on St. Clair St. for age-appropriate service, games, stories and entertainment that will revolve around caring about and helping others. Kid-friendly food and shirts will be available for all who register. Parents or guardians must plan to remain with their children. Families can participate for all day or just a part.
