Shovlin Presents on Political Economy in 18th Century France

John Shovlin, assistant professor of history, presented a paper titled, “Is 'Modernity' a Teleology? Analyzing Political Economy in Eighteenth-Century France,” at the Northeast American Society for Eighteenth-Century Studies annual meeting in New York City, on Oct. 17. Shovlin joined the Colleges faculty in 1997. He previously presented a paper titled “Patriotism, Agricultural Crisis, and the Fiscal Debate of 1763,” to the Western Society for French History meeting in Baltimore on Oct. 3.
