“Vagina Monologues” are back at Hobart and William Smith Colleges
(Feb. 3, 2005) GENEVA, N.Y. – The Women's Collective organization at William Smith College joins women's organizations around the world in celebration of V-Day: Until the Violence Stops, a global movement to end violence against women and girls. For V-Day, “The Vagina Monologues” will be read again this year at Hobart and William Smith Colleges on Friday, Feb. 11, and Saturday, Feb. 12. Both readings will start at 7 p.m. in the Geneva Room.
A non-profit organization, V-Day leads a global movement through promotion of creative events, programming and campaigns aimed at raising awareness of violence against women and girls.
Each year, V-Day funds benefit performances of Eve Ensler's “The Vagina Monologues,” which has become a prominent voice in a movement that has spread across continents to stop violence against women. The Monologues are performed throughout the United States and across the world to celebrate women's sexuality and strength, as well as raising awareness about the violations that happen to women all around the world.
