Juniors and Seniors Only: Backpack to Briefcase

The Salisbury Center for Career Services invites seniors and juniors to attend the fourth annual Backpack to Briefcase conference to be held on campus Friday and Saturday, Feb. 11 and 12. The conference events begin with a networking reception with alumni and alumnae on Friday, Feb. 11.

On Saturday, Feb. 12, will be a series of concurrent workshops. Alumni and alumnae will be presenting the workshops on topics that will assist students as they prepare for life after college, including interviewing, networking, working in advertising, marketing and sales, opportunities in the sciences, working in non-profits – or finance and banking, careers in sports, and paying for graduate school.

The schedule for Saturday, Feb. 12, is as follows:
9:15 – 9:45 a.m.: Registration and continental breakfast, Library Atrium

9:50 – 10:05 a.m.: Welcome, Sanford Room

10:15 – 11:10 a.m.: Concurrent Session I

11:20 – 12:15 p.m.: Concurrent Session II

12:30 – 1:45 p.m.: Luncheon – for seniors only

1:50 – 2:50 p.m.: Concurrent Session III

Concurrent sessions will include the following:
A) “Schmoozing 101: Networking and How to Approach your Target,” presented by Ed Cooper '86 in Stern 301.

B) “Working in Advertising, Marketing and Sales: How to put your best foot forward,” presented by Phil Yawman '87, Karl Withers '86, and John Fries P'04, in Stern 304.

C) “Do What you Love: Working in Non-Profits,” presented by Loomis Goode '63, Beverly Gale Goode '63, Bill Castiglione and Jane Lynch, in Napier 201.

D) “Interviewing Essentials,” presented by Art Medici '71, Stern 201.

D) “Working in Consulting,” presented by Howard Mulcahey '78 and Mitchell Alegre '73, in Coxe 7.

E) “Careers in Sports,” presented by Chryssa Chin '84, in Coxe 8.

F) “Managing Your Finances after Graduation,” presented by Neil Wolf, CPA P'07, in Stern 103.

G) “Opportunities in the Sciences,” presented by Micke Carr '86, Judy Farrar and Bob Kayser, in Napier 101.

H) “Working in Finance and Banking: What are they looking for?” presented by Maureen Zupan '72 and Becky Fountain, in Stern 204.
