Congressman Jim Walsh toured the Finger Lakes Institute at the Colleges on Monday, Feb. 14, with President Mark Gearan.
Walsh recently secured $250,000 in the 2005 budget for the purchase of materials and resources to equip the facility. This federal funding will continue to enhance the Institute's mission for research, education, and community programs focused on the Finger Lakes region.
The campus community shared with Walsh the aspirations for the Institute as well as showed him how the grant money will be utilized.
Congressman Walsh spoke with Professors John Halfman and Jim MaKinster in addition to Institute Director Marion Balyszak, Sarah Meyer, community outreach coordinator and Martha Bond, director of grants.
