Polar Plunge event to benefit Finger Lakes Visiting Nurse Service
If the beginning of the spring thaw has you troubled, the Hobart and William Smith Public Service Office has the perfect antidote. This year’s Polar Plunge asks students to jump into Seneca Lake, win one of many prizes and gain some bragging rights, all for charity.
This week, the Public Service Office will staff a table in Scandling Center during mealtimes to sign up students and collect pledges. Be sure to bring some friends. If students sign up in teams of four, only one has to take the plunge, but everyone is eligible for the prizes which include HWS hats and T-shirts, gift certificates to Mark’s and Cam’s, passes to Sunset Bowl, the Roller Rink and many others.
The event will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 26, at Seneca Lake State Park. All proceeds benefit the Finger Lakes Visiting Nurse Service, a private, non-profit agency providing in-home health care during illness or injury. The FLVNS is celebrating its 15th year and has provided care to over 23,000 patients and families.
