Jamie Linehan '03 and Don Emmons, dean of admissions and financial aid, were both featured in the Nov.-Dec. 2002 issue of The Next Step magazine. Linehan played college sports for a year before deciding they weren’t for her. Her story is titled “In my shoes”. She concludes, ” I have discovered that playing intramural sports is the solution to my happiness. Intramural sports allow me to be competitive, yet allow me time for myself, too. They do not take the dedication that varsity sports do, but you still feel the rush of adrenaline when you win your games.”
Emmons was quoted in the story “Early birds”, about early decision college entry. “If students have done sufficient research in looking at colleges, have a strong sense of what they want and have measured their needs and expectations for college, it is possible to find an appropriate fit. If they apply early decision and are admitted, it certainly takes them out of the whole fray of the college-selection process,” Emmons said.
