David Baker discusses media bias
(April 7, 2005) GENEVA, N.Y.–Known as both efficient and ebullient, Israeli Senior Foreign Press Coordinator David Baker is one of the most well recognized advocates for Israel. The New York City native will speak at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, April 13, in the Geneva Room of the Warren Hunting Smith Library on the Hobart and William Smith Colleges campus. Sponsored by Hillel and the Media and Society Program, this event is free and open to the public.
Baker's short presentation titled “Israel and the Media” will focus on the trials and tribulations of interfacing with a global media that holds Israel to what he's called “a quadruple standard.” An extended question and answer session will follow the speech.
As the liaison between the Prime Minister's Office and the international press corps, Baker's job includes explaining the Prime Minister's policies, “marketing” Israeli government spokespeople to the international media and serving on the front lines of Israel's media battleground. He is quoted frequently in The New York Times, Washington Post and British public Broadcasting Channel.
