Just in time to celebrate “spring” weather, the Russian Society students have put together a festival. Since Sunday, May 1, is both Russian Orthodox Easter and May Day, they’ve chosen several different types of events to celebrate spring. The schedule is below.
A Russian dinner is the menu at Saga on Tuesday, April 26, at 5:30 p.m. The evening will also include a bliny-eating contest starting at 6 p.m.
Wednesday, April 27, is Russian movie night. The film “Moscow Does Not Believe in Tears,” in Russian with English subtitles and directed by Vladimir Menshov, will be shown at 7 p.m. in the Sanford Room. Acclaimed as the first film to portray everyday Soviet life, “Moscow Does Not Believe in Tears” follows a group of women from their days as university students to their lives in 1970s Moscow as they cope with lovers, children, and careers.
Join in a Pysanky (Ukrainian egg-painting) workshop from 7-10 p.m. on Thursday, April 28, in Coxe 7. Instruction and all supplies will be provided; each workshop participant should be able to complete one egg during the workshop.
