Hobart and William Smith Colleges have joined with SWBR Architects and BRUNS-PAK to build a data center for the Colleges’ core information technology server, network and telecommunications infrastructure.
It will be on the lower level of the Warren Hunting Smith Library and Melly Academic Center, and serve as the central technology facility for computer processing equipment. Construction is scheduled to begin in September, with start-up planned for January 2006.
“The Colleges’ investment in this technology infrastructure is another visible indicator of the commitment and dedication of our president and board of trustees to the future of the institution and our students,” says Fred Damiano, HWS chief information officer.
BRUNS-PAK specializes in developing educational and corporate technology centers and has participated in more than 3,500 projects including those for Princeton University, Georgetown University, Columbia University, University of Pittsburgh and University of Miami.
SWBR Architects specializes in education, housing, research facility, corporate/industrial and municipal designs, serving local and East Coast clients from offices in Rochester and Syracuse.
