New sculpture to be dedicated Wednesday

The Department of Asian Languages and Cultures invites the Colleges’ community to Wednesday's dedication and celebration of the “East/West” sculpture, at 4:30 p.m. Sept. 7 on the lawn between Stern Hall and Blackwell House.

Sculptor Kim Czong-Ho produced this work of art while in residence at the Colleges last spring and summer; it was installed in mid-July.

Kim, a South Korean citizen, is a professor of art at Sangmyung University in Seoul. He has exhibited widely in Korea as well as in galleries in New York and Los Angeles.

Exchange students from from Yonsei University in Korea and Vietnam National University in Hanoi will be introduced and welcomed at the same ceremonies. Their stay here is sponsored in part by the Asian Studies Freeman Foundation grant as well as students from Lingnan University in Hong Kong.

Those attending will also be introduced to the new faculty in the Asian Studies department.

A reception will follow in the second floor lobby of Stern Hall; all are invited.
