Heron basketballers plan benefit race

The William Smith basketball team is now selling golf balls to help benefit the American Red Cross's disaster relief efforts and get themselves to a January tournament in California.

Golf balls are being sold for $10 each; the “Golf Ball Race” will be Friday, Oct. 28, after the field hockey game against Nazareth College Golden Flyers.

Right after the game on McCooey Field, all of the golf balls will be dumped onto a ramp to see which ball rolls the farthest; the owner of that ball wins $1,000!

Golf balls may be purchased from any member of the William Smith Basketball Team or by contacting Lindsay Drury, assistant coach, at drury@hws.edu.

Proceeds will be split between the American Red Cross Disaster Relief and William Smith Basketball.
