Barton Speaks on Scholarship Scams

Anne Barton, associate director of financial aid and president of the New York State Financial Aid Administrators Association, spoke at a scholarship scam press conference at Hudson Valley Community College last week. The session was picked up by all major TV networks and the Gannett news service. NYSFAAA has long been concerned about families being victimized by companies promising abundant money to help parents pay for college—all for costs ranging from $200-$1,500. Barton informed the press that the NYSFAAA organization provides this same service at no charge.
