Colleges Saddened

The Colleges community is saddened by the death of Mary Lynch, who retired in May from dining services administration at the Colleges. She passed away on Sunday, Dec. 22. Mary worked at the Colleges for more than 45 years, and was recognized last spring with a bench outside of the Scandling Center dedicated in her honor. Mary E. Lynch, 67, of 77 Greenhurst St., passed away Sunday (Dec. 22, 2002) at home.

Friends may call Thursday (Dec. 26) from 7 to 9 p.m. at the McGuigan Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Friday (Dec. 27) at 10 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Ontario-Yates Hospice, 756 Pre-Emption Road, Geneva, 14456.

Mary was born May 7, 1935, in Geneva, the daughter of the late Maurice and Mary Peterson Carragher. She worked at Hobart and William Smith Colleges, and recently retired after 46 years. Mary was also a member of St. Stephen's Roman Catholic Church.

She is survived by one son, Daniel (MaryBeth) Lynch of Geneva; one grandson, Racer Daniel Lynch; brothers, Ronald (Wendy) Carragher of Geneva and Richard (Louise) Carragher of Geneva; one sister, Gwen Schroeder of Geneva; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was predeceased by her husband, Thomas “Pete” Lynch, who died in 1992, and her brothers, Maurice “Mickey” and Daniel Carragher.
