Lucky Sam McCarver

Director of Theatre Robert F. Gross studies the most respected Broadway fiasco of 1925–Sidney Howard's “Lucky Sam McCarver,” in the latest issue of ESSAYS IN THEATRE. The essay, entitled “Between Jean and Stanley Kowalski–'Lucky Sam McCarver'” looks at the dynamics of class, gender and sexuality in Howard's play in the light of two related, but far better known dramas–August Strindberg's “Miss Julie” and Tennessee Williams's “A Streetcar Named Desure.”
