Mike Black, general manager of WEOS-FM, has been nominated for “Radio Wayne” General Manager of the Year by Radio Ink magazine. Black is the only manager of a non-commercial or public station nominated. Most are managers at large group-owned stations or in large cities.
Each year, Radio Ink honors outstanding efforts in radio sales leadership and station/group management. The awards, named for “Radio Wayne” Cornils, have evolved from a single category in 1992 to seven this year — Broadcaster of the Year, Market Manager of the Year, General Manager of the Year, Director of Sales of the Year, Sales Manager of the Year, Streetfighter (AE) of the Year, and the newest one, NTR Director of the Year. Finalists will appear in our January 20 issue of Radio Ink. Winners will be announced Feb. 1.
