In her role as chair of the Child, Youth, and Young Adult Services Committee, Mary Salibrici has helped organize ARC of Onondaga's first “Children, Youth, & Families Developmental Disabilities Conference,” to be held Saturday, May 20th at the Lemoyne Manor in Syracuse. In addition to providing welcoming remarks, Salibrici will also facilitate a round table discussion for siblings of persons with developmental disabiliies. The conference will target parents, families, guardians, advocates, and service providers of persons with developmental disabilities. Other session topics include lifetime planning for children with special needs, guardianship issues, and transition from high school to the adult world. Douglas Biklen, Dean of the School of Education at Syracuse University and co-producer of an Academy Award-nominated documentary on autism, will be the keynote speaker. Salibrici also serves as Vice-President of the ARC Board of Directors, a non-profit agency providing a multitude of services for persons with developmental disabilities.
