The Center For Global Education hosted its annual photo contest on Monday, May 1, in conjunction with the release of Volume 5 of The Aleph, a journal of global perspectives; and the opening of the Global Vision Gallery's latest show, titled “Behind the Mask: Faces of Brazil.”
The contest featured 58 photographs from 29 study abroad and international students. The work was judged in the categories of photojournalism, landscape/architecture, artistic, “Best in Show” and “People's Choice.” The CGE staff judged the winners in the other cateogories.
The new volume of The Aleph features the creative work of students at HWS and from Union College who studied abroad or had other international experiences. This year's volume was edited by the staff of the Center for Global Education with help from Sarah Kenney-Helfrich '06 of Shaker Heights, Ohio, who was at the CGE as part of an internship.
The Global Visions Gallery show features work by the participants in the Fall 2005 program to Sao Paulo, Brazil, and was curated by Kacy Cerasoli '07 of Quincy, Mass., one of the students on that program.
Photographs will be on display at the CGE, where copies of Aleph Vol. 5 are available and visitors may browse through the Global Visions Gallery show.
