Director of Theatre Robert F. Gross' essay, “Like Father, Like Son; The Ciphermale in 'A Delicate Balance' and 'Malcolm'” appears in the new volume “Edward Albee: A Casebook,” edited by Bruce J. Mann and published by Routledge. The essay deals with issues of desire and gender identity in two plays by the author of “The Goat” and “Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?” Gross' essays on playwrights A. R. Gurney (“The Dining Room”), Charles Ludlam (“The Mystery of Irma Vep”), and Harry Kondoleon (“The Houseguests”) appear in volume 266 of the “Dictionary of Literary Biography,” which is devoted to 20th century American dramatists, and is edited by Christopher Wheatley.
