Laird, summer research students meet with two at Cornell

Four summer research students working with Neil Laird of the HWS geoscience faculty recently met with Professor Mark Wysocki, who teaches meteorology; and graduate student Steven Jessup of Cornell University, to discuss their research projects on lake-effect snow storms.

Jared Desrochers '07 of Ballston Lake is collaborating with Laird during the HWS 2006 summer research program, as are Natasha Hodas of Cornell, Melissa Payer of Plymouth State University in Plymouth, N.H.; and Ryan Sobash of Penn State.

Their research is partially funded by the HWS Provost's Office and a grant from the National Science Foundation to investigate lake-effect snowstorms and winter atmospheric boundary layers.
