The Colleges Chorale, directed by Robert Cowles, will present a Madrigal Dinner Concert at 6 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 2 in the Comstock Hall Dining Room.
“This event has always been well received on campus,” said Cowles, “because it’s a win-win situation: not only does it involve great food and great music for the season, but the proceeds go toward an incredibly worthy cause.”
This evening of fine dining and entertainment includes a five-course meal interspersed with performances by the Chorale and classical guitarist Kenneth Meyer. The program features both seasonal favorites and secular madrigal pieces that are sure to entertain and inspire.
Proceeds from the concert will benefit the Energy Fund for the Geneva Community Lunch Program which takes place at First United Methodist Church on Main Street. Events in past years have raised money for Geneva Head Start, the Boys and Girls Clubs of Geneva and the Geneva City Schools Music Program.
The Geneva Community Lunch Program has been serving hot noon meals in Geneva since 1983 and providing a meal five days a week since 1998. In 2005 the program served almost 20,000 meals, with 10 percent going to children under age 18.
Tickets are $25 except $15 for HWS students; for details, call Cowles at ext. 3404 or e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org.
The event is sponsored by the Department of Music and Hobart Student Government.
