Bauder Spotlighted for Reenactment Activities

Ave Bauder, director of public service, was quoted with his wife, Tina, in the article “Waterloo: The Birthplace of Memorial Day” in the Sprint 2003 issue of the magazine “Life in the Finger Lakes”. Ave and his wife and son, Nathaniel, participate in Civil War reenactments. Ave is a corporal gunner and safety officer with the John A. Reynolds 1st NY Light Artillery reenactors and Tina portrays a nurse. Nathaniel wears a replica of his father's uniform and accompanies his parents at reenactments. “The Civil War is the defining moment in American history,” said Ave. “It is when we decided to be the United States and not these United States.” Ave is also a Civil War soldier in three scenes in the new movie “Gods and Generals”.
