“Everett Beekin, a play by Richard Greenberg, will be performed by six HWS students (each playing two roles) at the Bartlett Theatre Feb. 1-3 (Thurs. – Sat.) at 7 p.m. under the direction of Professor Robert Gross.
“Everett Beekin is a comedy about two generations of a Jewish family, one on the Lower East Side of Manhattan in the 1940’s and one in Orange County, California in the 90s. Variety called the play “…a blisteringly funny stew of sibling rivalry and assimilation angst.
A New York Times reviewer claimed “Greenberg has a profound and refreshing respect for the ineffable, an awareness of how every word spoken, no matter how honestly, contains at least the grain of a lie.
The cast includes Jonah Levy ’08 as Jimmy and Ev, Hallie Martensen ’09 as Anna and Cecilia, Deana Stuart ’09 as Ma and Waitress, Katharine Sanford ’08 as Miri and Laurel, Peter Marciano ’08 as Jack and Bee, and Jamie Agnello ’07 as Sophie and Nell.
Tickets will be available for $5 at the Bartlett box office in Coxe Hall, half an hour before the curtain.
