The capstone event of the current Fisher Center performers, Street as Stage, featuring street theater performers from India, will begin at 7:30 p.m. tonight in the library's Geneva Room.
Members of Janam are educators, teachers, writers, poets and actors. Their approach to theatre is a pedagogically rich for all of us, as is their commitment to using theatre to encourage thought and reflection of issues of the day or global struggles.
Tonight, two of India's best-known street theatre activists — Sudhanva Deshpande and Moloyashree Hashmi — will speak about street theatre in that nation, raising and addressing larger questions around the history of street theatre in India and elsewhere, and the part played by street theatre in cultural and political change.
Details are available at Street as Stage.
