The Hobart and William Smith community is invited to attend a ceremony to symbolically break ground for the Scandling Center expansion project at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, April 28, at the building's west entrance. The renovation and expansion project aims to transform the Scandling Center into a true campus center by creating spaces that will foster more interaction among students, faculty and staff.
The $15 million project will add approximately 17,625 square feet of informal and formal spaces including a student activities commons, game room, lounge areas, marketplace café, outdoor terrace, and a large multipurpose that can accommodate up to 450 people. The renovations have been designed by Pamela Lucas Rew ’81 of KSS Architects, Princeton, N.J.
The project is scheduled to be completed in the fall of 2008, shortly after the academic year begins.
