Two HWS seniors, Rashna Clubwala and Jonathan Hureau, earned a first-place finish for their poster presentation at the Northeast Regional Undergraduate and Graduate Sigma Xi Poster Conference, April 21 at Cornell University in Ithaca.
They presented a joint poster titled “Characterization of Photoreceptor Cell Types in Myotis lucifugus,” based on their research in the area of bat vision as part of her honors project and his independent study in collaboration with Mark Deutschlander, Kristy Kenyon and Jim Ryan of the biology faculty.
The judges evaluated the posters on organization, content and communication of the research. The HWS students received a monetary prize for their first-place finish among 60 undergraduate presentations. More than two dozen colleges and universities were represented at the meeting.
