The $15 million Scandling Center expansion project — to add approximately 17,625 square feet of informal and formal spaces including a student activities commons, game room, lounge areas, marketplace café, outdoor terrace, and a large multipurpose room — was featured in a story printed in the Monday, May 21 issue of the Rochester Democrat and Chronicle.
President Mark D. Gearan talked about the way the expansion project “will really transform it into a campus center in a way it has not been.”
The project is scheduled to be completed in the fall of 2008, shortly after the academic year begins.
Ground on the project was symbolically broken on Friday, April 27, as part of the Board of Trustees' weekend of meetings. Gearan spoke at that ceremony, as did Michael Scandling, son of William F. '49 LL.D. '67 and Margaret W. Scandling, for whom the building was named.
