The American Cancer Society's annual Relay for Life, a 12-hour benefit walk, will begin at 6 p.m. Friday, June 15 on the track surrounding Boswell Field.
After the opening ceremonies and the survivors' lap, team events are scheduled all night. Nearly two dozen teams of cancer survivors, their families and friends will take part in activities ending with the 6 a.m. breakfast.
One special event is the traditional luminaria ceremony, when those lost to cancer are remembered. Dozens of luminaria are placed around the track and often used to spell the word “Hope” in the bleachers.
The parking lot at Boswell Field will be closed during the period.
