What’s up for the weekend?

Here's what's going on this weekend:
Friday, October 5

3:30 p.m.: A cherry tree will be planted in front of Hirshson House on the Hill to honor the memory of Sai Gong, who passed away on July 18. The HWS community is invited to pay respects to someone who is dearly missed.

4 p.m.: William Smith Field Hockey takes on Union College at McCooey Field. Classes are out for the weekend, so come show some support!

4 p.m.: Nationally-ranked Hobart Soccer kicks off against Rensselaer on Cozzens Field. Wear orange to fill up the hill!

6:30 p.m.: Celebrate Shabbat with Hillel at the Abbe Center for Jewish Life, on 764 S. Main St.

Saturday, October 6
9 a.m.: Third annual Finger Lakes Research Conference, sponsored by the Finger Lakes Institute and funded by the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, in the Melly Academic Center at the library. Presentations will highlight Finger Lakes scientific research and provide opportunities for students, faculty and other scientists.

9:30a.m.: The Day of Service kicks off on the Quad. Hundreds of people from the HWS community will be there to hear President Mark D. Gearan speak about the event before the service begins.

10 a.m.: Hobart and William Smith Crew will compete at the Head of the Genesee Invitational in Rochester. Get a carload of your friends together and head down the Thruway to cheer them down the river: 149 Elmwood Ave., Rochester.

12:30 p.m.: Lunch served for Day of Service participants on the Quad, reflections from the organizers and a speaker from the Stewardson Society.

2 p.m.: El Ka Bong band plays on the Quad.

2 p.m.: Hobart Soccer will play Vassar on Cozzens Field. Check it out on your way back from late Saga brunch.

2 p.m.: William Smith Field Hockey will host Skidmore on McCooey Field. Head over after lunch, and wear green.

4:30 p.m.: The Library Associates of the Warren Hunting Smith Library will present Jane Crumlish, Eliot Heaton and Troy Slocum in a concert of music for horn, violin and piano, St. John's Chapel.

7 p.m.: John Zaffis, Ghost Hunter, will speak in the Geneva Room. The first 40 people to attend can participate in a campus ghost hunt after the talk!

9 p.m.: Annie in the Water, an acoustic trio featuring two Hobart students, will perform at the Barn Basement Jam. Snacks will be provided, and there will be ticket giveaways for the Gym Class Heroes and the Glenn Miller Orchestra, both coming to the Smith Opera House in downtown Geneva.

Sunday, October 7

Noon: Come join Chaplain Lesley Adams and members of the HWS community in Campus Chapel. The services will take place in St. John’s Chapel.

4 p.m.: Roman Catholic Mass at St. John’s Chapel.

5:30 p.m.: Episcopal Eucharist at St. John’s Chapel.

7:30 p.m.: Get in your end-of-weekend workout at Power Yoga in the Bristol Field House.
