Assistant Professor of Spanish and Hispanic Studies Alejandra Molina, director of the Intercultural Affairs Center, will be the featured speaker at the Ontario/Yates Fund for Women dinner, beginning at 5 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 8 in the Common Room at the Scandling Center.
The dinner will include the announcement of the recipients of the fund's 2008 grants, totaling more than $23,000 — the largest ever awarded. Representatives of groups and agencies that received '07 grants will also speak.
Molina, a member of the HWS faculty since 1995, she holds a bachelor's and master's from the University of Texas and her Ph.D. from Cornell. She has been director of IAC since the summer of 2007 and continues to lead President Mark D. Gearan's Commission on Inclusive Excellence. Molina was one of the first faculty members to require her students to perform community service as part of the course requirements.
