Intercultural Affairs invites local residents to consider hosting international students
A new date has been set for the reception for international students and community residents interested in participating in the Host Family Program, sponsored by the Offices of the President and Intercultural Affairs at Hobart and William Smith Colleges. The event will now begin at 11 a.m., Sunday, Nov. 18 at the President’s House, 690 S. Main St. This is two weeks later than the date initially announced.
Students from around the world come to Geneva annually to study at Hobart and William Smith Colleges, enriching the campus community in classrooms, student residences and playing fields and courts. The Host Family Program seeks to bring a spirit of cross-cultural understanding to the greater Geneva community, encouraging local families to welcome students into their homes for special occasions, meals and holiday events. Host Families are also invited to spend time on campus, enjoying the student’s academic or co-curricular interests.
The reception will introduce all of the current student participants and our Geneva neighbors, as well as officials at the Intercultural Affairs office. Information will also be collected to enable matching of students with host families for the rest of this academic year.
Those planning to attend are asked to call Chevy DeVaney '95, the international student adviser, at ext. 3851 or e-mail her at email@example.com.
