As part of American College & University Presidents Climate Commitment that President Mark Gearan recently signed, students in the Environmental Studies Senior Integrative Experience are working on a community bike program.
Through it, members of the community are invited take a bike from one place on campus and ride it to any other location on campus for free. The bikes, painted in fluorescent orange, green and purple, will be unveiled to the campus community during the Spring 2008 semester.
Organizers are looking to collect as many donated bicycles as possible and are encouraging the community to donate unused and outgrown bikes to the drive. Collection will be at The Barn starting Sunday, Nov. 25. Donations will be accepted in the basement of The Barn during these times:
Sunday, Nov. 25: 5 to 8 p.m.
Monday, Nov. 26: 7 to 10 a.m. and 5 to 7 p.m.
Tuesday, Nov. 27: 7 to 10 a.m. and 5 to 7 p.m.
Wednesday, Nov. 28: 5 to 7 p.m.
Thursday, Nov. 29: 5 to 7 p.m.
Friday, Nov. 30: 3 to 5 p.m.
Coffee and treats will be provided for all those who donate a bicycle.
