Lessons and Carols Service

“Preparing Our Hearts,” a Candlelight Service of Lessons and Carols for the Solstice Season, will begin at 4 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 8 in St. John's Chapel.

The service, which includes readings from Scripture and poetry by James Weldon Johnson, T.S. Eliot, Rainer Marie Rilke and Denise Levertov.

The Colleges Chorale, directed by Robert Cowles, will present selections from Benjamin Britten's “A Ceremony of Carols.” In addition, the congregation will be invited to join in singing traditional hymns and carols for the Advent and Christmas season.

A mulled cider and cookie reception will follow at the Chaplain’s residence next door, 630 S. Main St.
