Sandra Bissell, Director of the Office of Human Resources, was elected to a one-year term on the board of directors of the Smith Opera House at the annual meeting on Tuesday, Nov. 13.
A member of the HWS senior staff since February 2005, she holds a bachelor's degree in public management from the University of Maine at Orono and is a former Vice President for Human Resources at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, D.C., where she worked for 17 years.
The 21-member board also includes Robert Flowers, HWS Interim Vice President of Student Affairs.
Built in 1894 by William Smith, the 1,434-seat theater is a fully restored performing arts venue that offers concerts, musical and dramatic performances, lectures and films on the largest indoor screen in the region. For details, visit The Smith.
