Listening Forum aims to improve inclusion

President Mark Gearan and the HWS Commission on Inclusive Excellence have invited all students, faculty and staff to a Listening Forum, starting at 9 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 21, in the library atrium.

Organizers hope to stimulate a conversation about participants' experiences and aspirations, and create recommendations on how the Colleges can become a more inclusive community.

The forum will continue all day, all night, and until 3 a.m. the next day; supervisors are being encouraged to make opportunities available for staff and Sodexho colleagues to attend.

During the Fall 2007 semester, the Commission on Inclusive Excellence, chaired by Assistant Professor of Spanish and Hispanic Studies Alejandra Molina, has taken important steps to advance this critical community conversation; the Listening Forum is essential to shape the work of the months ahead.

“As we honor Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. on this day and during the course of that week, I hope you will join us on Jan. 21 to kick off the Spring semester,” Gearan said.
