“Hauntingly beautiful.” “Well-blended.” These words of praise have been applied by the Rochester Flute Association to the Rhapsodie Trio.
Made up of a flutist, a violist and a harpist, the Rhapsodie Trio will treat members of the HWS community to a concert at 8 p.m. on Friday, March 7 in the Geneva Room. They will perform original works with styles ranging from Baroque and Romantic to Contemporary.
“Their playing was subtle and varied, and revealed a delicate sensitivity to color, balance, and nuances of phrasing,” said Michael Landrum, associate professor of music at Roberts Wesleyan College, following a previous performance.
President and Executive Director of the Hochstein Music School Margaret Quackenbush agrees, “Each artist is superb individually, but the three meld their distinct timbres into one expressive voice.”
Members of the trio are Rebecca Gilbert (flute), David Hult (viola) and Barbara Decchario (harp). All three are members of the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra.
The event is sponsored by the Department of Music. Contact Professor Robert Cowles for additional information.
