Congratulations go to two HWS math majors who achieved positive scores on the recent national Putnam Mathematics Competition examination.
Adam Giambrone '08 and Bailey Meeker '09 were among 17 HWS students who took the prestigious exam on Dec. 1. The exam requires contestants to work on 12 mathematics problems over a six-hour period. The exam, given annually for the past 68 years, attracted more than 3,700 undergraduates at 516 colleges and universities. Giambrone and Meeker were in the approximately one-third of students who receive full credit for even a single question.
The Putnam Competition is the oldest and most prestigious mathematics contest in the United States; the HWS team is advised by Associate Professor of Mathematics and Computer Science John Vaughn.
