Sen. Daniel P. Moynihan was the 1992 Commencement Speaker at the Colleges and was awarded the L.H.D. degree at that time. Sen. Moynihan was a four-term United States senator from New York. He died March 26 at Washington Hospital Center in Washington, D.C. He was 76. The cause, a spokesman for the family said, was complications of a ruptured appendix, which was removed on March 11 at the hospital, where he remained.
