Drennen Quoted in USA Today

Tom Drennen, assistant professor of economics, was quoted in the March 28 USA Today titled “Careful: Oil stocks are slick with risk”. The story was a column on investing in oil stocks, and whether or not oil stocks are a good risk given the current economic and political conditions. According to the article, “the situation in Iraq is far from settled, and day-to-day events could boost the war premium higher. But even if the Iraqi regime collapses today, the oil market holds yet another danger: low oil prices.”

“Someone else will have to give up some production, presumably the Saudis,” said Drennen, who also noted he wouldn't want to invest in oil right now. “There's so much volatility, and so much of it is driven by politics and not the market.”
