Jessica Miller ’04 and Edward Norton ’04, students in Jim MaKinster’s Technology and Education class, are working with a first grade and a second grade teacher at North St. Elementary School to help students learn how technology can enhance their educations. The project links current technology with the teachers’ goal of teaching the students about regions of the country.
The students have undertaken web-based research in their assigned subject areas, and the HWS students are assisting them in that research, as well as helping them take what they learn and develop posters and “travel brochures” about their regions and specific states. The project will culminate on April 10 with a potluck dinner at the school to which students and their families will bring dishes created from items grown or found in their respective regions. First grade teacher Linda John and second grade teacher Cindy Lynch are working with the HWS students.
