Twelve security screeners from the Greater Rochester International Airport are headed to check bags and screen passengers at the airport in Baghdad. “Bless their hearts,” said Virginia Tilley, associate professor of political science. “But I fear for them. They’re going into an increasingly unstable situation. A newly opened airport would be a natural target for suicide bombers or others wanting to create a climate of fear in Iraq.” The story was titled “Local screeners head to Iraq” and was published in the July 4 Rochester Democrat and Chronicle.
