Zhou to Have China’s Public Philosophy Book Published

Jinghao Zhou, assistant professor of Asian languages and cultures, signed a contract with a publisher for his book titled “Remaking China’s Public Philosophy for the Twenty-first Century,” which is a systematic study of Chinese culture from both Eastern and Western perspectives in seven aspects—history, ideology, economy, politics, religion, education, China’s future. It is the first time either in China or in the United States to use the prism of “public philosophy” to examine Chinese society, modernization, globalization, and democratization as a whole. According to reviewers, this book “would make a significant contribution to a variety of disciplines” in Asian studies. This book will be about 90,000 words and can be used for various courses related to Asian studies, including his course “Society, Culture, and the State in Contemporary China.”
