New director brings many years of experience to the well-respected Colleges-owned book store
July 10, 2003 Geneva, N.Y. – Lucille Smart was recently named director of Hobart and William Smith Colleges’ College Store. She replaces Nancy Palmisano, who retired after 28 years at the Colleges.
Smart worked at bookstore services at Keuka College from 1986 to 2000, serving as director from 1992 until 2000. Most recently she has been a marketing representative for MBS Services, Inc. in Columbia, Mo.
As director of The College Store, Smart will be responsible for all aspects of store management. She will supervise the staff, inventory, budgets and more.
Smart said she is happy to be returning to book store management and is confident that she will enjoy both the Colleges and the staff. She added, “I’ve known Nancy Palmisano for many years and, as I expected, I’m walking into an efficiently run and successful operation. I’m eager to follow Nancy’s lead in continuing to offer the campus and larger communities a resource for both academic and leisure reading, as well as an outlet for sportswear and other college related supplies and paraphernalia.”
Smart began her duties on July 1 and urges HWS and area community members to visit The College Store and to say hello.
