Wesley Perkins, professor of sociology, appeared in a television interview about the social norms approach to alcohol abuse prevention on the 10 O’Clock Evening News of WLVI television in Boston on July 16. He also gave a keynote address on “Sociological Vision: An Essential Ingredient for Social Norms Recipes in Health Promotion,” at the 6th National Conference on the Social Norms Model in Boston, July 16-18, and led a preconference workshop on “The Social Norms Approach to Substance Abuse Prevention and Health Promotion.”
In June Perkins was a leader of a workshop presented for student life administrators and health educators of colleges and universities throughout Canada participating in a project of the Canadian Centre for Social Norms Research sponsored by The Student Life Education Company of Toronto. Also in June, Perkins was an Institute Leader at the Montana Summer Institute for Social Norms Practitioners, sponsored by the Montana Social Norms Project at Montana State University, Bozeman, Montana. The Institute was attended by social norms project leaders throughout the U.S., Canada, and the United Kingdom.
