The Geneva Theatre Guild will hold auditions for their summer musical, Gypsy, on Monday and Tuesday, May 20 and 21, at the Smith Opera House, 82 Seneca Street, Geneva. Children may audition between 4 and 6 p.m. and adults between 7 and 10 p.m.
Gypsy is the story of Gypsy Rose Lee and the relationship she had with her mother, Rose, as she went from a second rate vaudeville performer to burlesque stardom. Principal roles in the musical are Rose, the struggling stage mother; Louise, who blossomed into the lovely Gypsy; June, the younger sister; Herbie, a former vaudeville agent; young Louise and June, and Tulsa, one of the young men in the vaudeville act. The large cast requires singers and dancers of all ages.
Gypsy will be presented at the Smith Opera House on July 12, 13 and 14. The production is directed by Christine Woodworth and Jessica Long. People who audition are asked to bring a photograph, be prepared to sing and wear comfortable shoes for dancing.
