The Geneva Theatre Guild will hold auditions for their fall show, Over the River and Through the Woods, at 7 p.m. Monday and Tuesday, August 26 and 27, at the Presbyterian Church, Pulteney Park, Geneva.
Over the River and Through the Woods is a delightful family comedy about two sets of grandparents who scheme to keep their grandson from accepting a job in Seattle and moving away from them. The grandparents firmly believe in family, faith and food. In fact, the grandson has been having dinner with them every Sunday for twenty-nine years.
The cast requires three men and three women. Nick Cristano, the grandson, is in his thirties; Frank Gianelli, Nick's maternal grandfather, is in his eighties; and Aida Gianelli, Nick's maternal grandmother, in her seventies. The paternal grandparents, Nunzio and Emma Cristano, are both in their seventies. Completing the cast is Caitlin O'Hare, in her late twenties, who is the attractive and charming unmarried niece of Emma's canasta partner.
Over the River and Through the Woods will be presented at the Geneva Sons of Italy Lodge, Prospect Avenue, Geneva, on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, October 18, 19 and 20. The production is directed by Ruth Legg. For information, call (315) 789-1209, or visit the Guild's Web site at www.gtglive.org.
